Third album from The Great Park on Woodland Recordings - long sold out and now available as a download at the low price of just £3.
'I made this record with Laurence Collyer of The Diamond Family Archive in Brighton at his wonderful flat throughout 2007. It took us about 4 months - ages really - mostly because I had this ridiculously long song that I kept writing verses for and we both got preoccupied with making it as fun as we could at the time. When we finally left it alone we had a 20 minute thing with a preposterous title and all our friends singing and playing on it - it should really have been on it’s own cd and not on the album, but we all make mistakes. Listening to it this morning I just wanted to fast forward to the bit where you expect cannons to start going off - I won’t apologise for enjoying myself but you know.
Laurence plays lots of great stuff on this one and I think there’s some weak songs that have some lovely musical things happening on them. He brought some good noise and some clunky percussion - it would be good to do another record that has some of the same textures on it soon I think. It’s telling that the only songs on here that I play now are the 2 solo ones and that ‘I Do Wrong’ thing. One of the songs I wrote specifically for someone who asked for one - and I’m still sorry that it went on the cd when it was theirs and kind of not mine to give away.' (Stephen Burch)
