about

From The Great Park blog (www.woodlandrecordings.com/thegreatparkblog.htm)

This song was written for the Groninger Museum in Groningen, The Netherlands at the request of Lotte de Jong. I was asked to write and record a piece of music in reaction to an item in their collection for an exhibition she was involved with. I chose a painting by Jan Wiegers and wrote something that I thought was about the end of a friendship - who knows. I’ve never been asked to do something like this before, there was a little pressure and it helped me to write something with purpose.

I recorded the song, sent it to the museum and it formed part of an audio guide. They had some restrictions on length and file size so I edited it a little for them - but when I went to put the new album together I left the length and recorded a few extra parts, mixed it again. I originally didn’t want the song to appear anywhere else but inside the museum, but somehow I softened to it.
